Novel Foods Application webinar – Opportunity to question UK regulators

The Novel Foods Application has been the main talking point over the last couple of months in the CBD industry.

RASB Media and The Canna Consultants have partnered together to host a free webinar with the Food Safety Authority (FSA).

This resulted in an opportunity for CBD players in the European market to question UK regulators over the Novel Foods application.

The UK Foods Standards Agency will give two presentations followed by a question and answer session.

The two areas that will be covered are:

  • The policy and technical elements of a Novel Food Dossier.
  • The scientific, toxicology and ADME elements of a Novel Food Dossier.

Paul Tossell will answer questions submitted in advance on behalf of the Food Standards Agency. Tossell is head of the Head of radiological, GM, Novel Foods & feed additives policy team.

Most importantly, the webinar will help to provide answers from the horse of mouth to questions and concerns regarding the novel foods regulations.

Novel Foods Application submission

All producers and retailers of ingestible and topical CBD products must submit an approved Novel Food application. The deadline for this application is March 31st, 2021.

The cost of a Novel Foods Application ranges from £100,000. An expense that will most likely eliminate smaller players in the CBD industry. Subsequently, CBD products and brands are at risk of disappearing from shelves if they fail to submit an authorised application.

RASB Media and the Canna Consultants have organised this event incurring all costs.  Donations will be made through the Just Giving page for an NHS charity. The charity will receive all funds donated with nothing deducted.

Paul Burns

Paul Burns might be best described by his famed catchphrase "Yabba Dabba Doo". Or maybe that was Fred Flintstone. When he's not writing for The Extract, he is penning his new novel.
