The cannabis products industry has blown up into a multi-billion pound industry in recent years and looks like it has no intention of slowing down. With this boom there has been a wealth of questions posed on the legality of such products, with some of the top questions on Google showing as:- Is CBD legal? Or can I mail CBD oil? Can i Ship CBD in UK?
These questions not only weigh heavy in the minds of consumers but also producers, distributors, and retailers of such products who could face serious consequences if in breach of any legislation. CBD is now found in retailers on the high street, in pharmacies, and health and supplement stores as well as the most popular place for CBD to be purchased within the UK – online. But is the CBD you are purchasing legal?
Is it legal to send CBD in the mail in the UK?
Yes, it is 100% legal to send and receive CBD products in the mail within the UK as long as the products comply with the laws and regulations of the country in which the goods are being delivered, as per the delivery companies own terms & conditions. Therefore, as long as the CBD products are complying with UK law, then they are legal to be transported within the postal system.
The UK law states that CBD products within the UK must be “THC free”, meaning they must contain less than 0.2% THC and are only marketed as a food supplement used to maintain a healthy lifestyle and not for any specific medical purpose. The products must also be processed in some way from the buds, such as being extracted into the oil. Therefore, the sale of unprocessed CBD buds within the UK is considered illegal regardless of the THC content.
If the CBD product being purchased complies with the above regulations, which the majority of online distributors (not all) should be aware of, then the CBD oil you are buying will be fine to ship.

Can CBD oil be shipped internationally from the UK?
The UK has seen an almost exponential rise in the number of online CBD oil shops within its borders. This has caused an increase in the status of such shops and therefore an interest in some CBD products that are produced in the UK from countries abroad. We have seen a subsequent rise in the number of people wishing to ship CBD products abroad from the UK.
The general rule is that as long as CBD products such as hemp oil, are legal in the country you are shipping to, then the product should be fine to ship. However, shipping CBD internationally can run into numerous complications, such as customs stops in intermediate countries on trade routes that prohibit the use of such products.
The general rules for CBD products in international countries are that they must be extracted from industrial hemp that contains less than 0.2% THC. The product itself must have less than 0.2% THC and it must not be advertised for use medicinally. Countries that fall under this guide which are fine to ship from within the UK are:-
- Costa Rica
- Czech Republic
- Hong Kong
- New Zealand
- Republic of Slovenia
- South Africa
- South Korea
- United States of America
- Virgin Islands
Before shipping any product, it is wise to check the legislation specific to that country to avoid any unwelcome surprises.
