MUHU, the UK’s very first CBD-infused gin, officially launched this week.
The gin, created by Sally Wynter for £1,300, has been made using sweet hibiscus and infused with CBD (cannabidiol). CBD is one of the many components of the cannabis plant, lauded for its anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety benefits.
“I looked at the spirits market and despite gin acting as a catalyst for experimentation with flavours and colour we haven’t really seen anything truly innovative,” said MUHU founder, Sally Wynter.
“Muhu is looking to branch away from the traditional, provenance driven brands.”
The gin is made entirely from a colourless, flavourless, and water-soluble CBD solution. This means that it doesn’t affect the flavour of the gin in any way. In a MUHU press release, they stated that their CBD is cultivated from pesticide and chemical-free hemp farms in Canada.
More and more people are turning to CBD to soothe their anxiety, pain, and many more conditions. Speaking of her own experience, Sally Wynters added, “CBD is something I’ve been adding to my cocktails for the past year. Personally, I feel more relaxed mentally but also in my body and muscles.”
